Having a workforce that truly reflects the vibrant and diverse communities we serve is so important to help us deliver for customers. Transport Mode takes a look at two areas we are focusing on to increase diversity across our Transport cluster.
The benefits of diversity are clear. Having a workforce that truly represents your customer base has been proven to produce better outcomes. There is also evidence that diverse teams are innovative and consistently outperform homogeneous ones. Yet women are underrepresented across the Transport cluster in leadership roles and Aboriginal people are underrepresented at all levels.
It’s time to take action. This year, we have embarked on an ambitious program to increase the number of women in our senior ranks by more than 25 per cent by December 2017. We’re also moving to increase Aboriginal employment by 10 per cent across the board in the same timeframe.
